Why do I have to complete this course to receive my bankruptcy discharge?

The new Bankruptcy Act passed by Congress requires individuals filing bankruptcy to complete a Personal Financial Management Course AFTER filing bankruptcy and prior to having their debts discharged.

Is CCCSWFL approved by the United States Trustee?

CCCSWFL is approved to issue certificates in compiance with the bankruptcy code. Approval does not endorse or insure the quality of an agency’s services.

What if I fail the course?

You cannot fail the course. As long as you complete the entire course, you will receive the Certificate of Completion.

How much does the course cost?

The cost for Pre-Filing is $50.00 and the cost for Pre-Discharge is $35.00. The fee will be waived in hardship cases. Please call 850-434-0268 to request your fee waiver form.

How do I pay for the course?

You may pay with a credit/debit card, or you mail in your money order and request a voucher to use when registering that will allow you to proceed to the class without inputting a credit/debit card number.

How long is the course?

It will take approximately 2 hours to complete the course.

Where can I take the course?

CCCSWFL offers convenient access to educational courses on our web site. You may complete the course from any location with internet access such as your home, office, attorney’s office, public library or an internet cafe. A counselor is available to answer any questions M-F 8 to 4:30 CST. You may e-mail a counselor at info@cccswfl.org or call 1-800-343-3317 Ext 206.

What information do I need to get started?

To register for the course, you will need to provide the following information:
Your full name including first, middle initial, last – required for certificate
Home address – required for certificate
Phone number
Email address
Bankruptcy case number – required for certificate
Judicial District where your bankruptcy was filed — required for certificate
Attorney’s name and email or phone number if you are represented by an attorney -
Once I’ve started the course, do I have to complete it all at the same time?

You may start, stop and save your course at any time. When you log back in, the course will resume where you left off.
You also have the option to return to the course at anytime to review sections or print worksheets. There is no additional cost for retaking the course. You may return to the course as often as you like.

How do I receive my Certificate of Completion?

Certificates for our Bankruptcy classes will be issued within 72 hours of course completion. They will be delivered during regular business hours of 8-4:30 CST M-F. The method of delivery is selected during student registration. The options available for delivery are: email, fax or mail. If you choose fax, please be sure to include the fax number.

Will my attorney receive a copy of my certificate?

A duplicate copy of your certificate will be mailed to your attorney if you enter your attorney’s name and address or FAX #when registering for the course.

Can I get an additional copy of my certificate at a later time?

Yes. Email info@cccswflL.org to request a duplicate copy of your certificate.

What do I do with the Certificate of Completion?

You and or your attorney will need a copy of the Certificate to proceed with your filing.

If my spouse and I are filing a joint bankruptcy, do we each have to complete the course?

Yes. Each person will need to register, pay, and complete the course individually.
